Focused on Intracranial Electrophysiology (iEEG)

 

We have also begun to explore single unit recordings from deep brain regions such as the hippocampus, amygdala, orbito-frontal cortex, and anterior cingulate. We collect single neuron activity in these regions using a hybrid micro-electrode.

 

It is important to note that the research subjects are patients with epilepsy whose clinicians and surgeons have indicated may need to have their epilepsy localized. Our lab runs tasks on patients who have consented to participate in the research, after the surgical and clinical team have planned the epilepsy monitoring procedure for their diagnosis and treatment process. Electrode placement is determined by the patients’ care team, with no influence from researchers.
